Our work grows out of the quiet strength of collective effort, learning and care.

We steadily focus on what strengthens us: education, wellness, opportunities for earning a living, and spaces where women feel seen and supported.

You’re welcome to learn more about our work, visit the Treasure Hunt Craft Shop, or simply take a moment to understand who we are and what we hope to nurture here.

How We Began

It all started with a small circle of women who believed change begins at home.

When Ann Wilson arrived in Treasure Beach in 2000, she needed a meaningful project to extend her stay in Jamaica. That seed of an idea grew into something lasting with support from the Bureau of Gender Affairs, guidance from Dr. Glenda Simms and our founding members.

In those early days, we met wherever we could—under a tree in Ann Wilson’s home, at a Treasure Beach Church of God Church, and even at Sandy Bank Primary School.

From those humble beginnings, we built literacy programs, hosted health clinics, and opened a craft shop where women could earn and create independently.

Crafting changes, one woman at a time.

What We Do Together

Like the shoreline shaped by the rhythm of the waves, our mission is shaped by the ever-changing needs of the Treasure Beach community. We respond to the voices of our people, creating programs that meet everyday needs with steady, thoughtful support.

Our key focus areas include:
Education and Literacy

Adult classes and a learning centre for children who need extra help.

Health and Healing

Annual clinics and ongoing conversations about wellness.

Skill Building

Workshops in sewing, crafts, and small-scale production.

Income Support

Our craft shop provides women the opportunity to earn directly from their creativity.

Youth Activities

Through our youth group and annual summer camp, we create joyful, enriching spaces for young people to explore creativity, build confidence, and connect with their community.

Each project is a reflection of our commitment.

Ways to Support

People often ask how they can help. The truth is, small acts of support can carry a lot of weight for our community here.

You can:
Every offering is received with thanks and used intentionally. If your heart is moved to reach out, we warmly welcome it.

Treasure Hunt Craft Shop

Part of the mission of the Treasure Beach Women’s Group is to promote the advancement of the Treasure Beach community. From the very beginning, the founding members understood that one of the most powerful ways to fulfill this mission was by creating the Treasure Hunt Craft Shop—a space where creativity, culture, and community come together.

This is where women’s hands tell quiet stories—through calabash bowls, handwoven baskets, pottery, jewelry, and candle holders made from calabash and clay. Every item is handcrafted with care, each one holding a piece of the place and the people who made it.

Whether you’re searching for the perfect souvenir or a meaningful gift, your purchase supports not only individual artisans but also the Treasure Beach Women’s Group and the broader community.

Come by, take your time, and find something meaningful to carry home.

Caring for Ourselves and Each Other

The first step toward change is awareness—and at TBWG, we believe the second step is action. Through our care work, we provide both.

One of our most impactful initiatives is the Mammogram and Prosthesis Program, which allows women to register and receive free mammograms and support with prosthetic fittings. This program is rooted in equity, access, and respect for every woman’s right to care.

We also create safe, welcoming spaces for honest conversations around a wide range of health issues affecting women and other members of our community.

These aren’t just services. They are ways we care for each other as neighbours and kin.

What We Do Together

In Treasure Beach, the shoreline is beloved—but just as cherished is the gathering of people.

At TBWG, we understand the power of coming together. That’s why throughout the year, we organize events that bring our community closer: walks, health and wellness seminars, beach cleanups, and fundraisers.

Each gathering creates space for connection. Some are joyful. Some are tender. All remind us that we are part of something greater than ourselves.

If you’re in the area, come take part. There’s always room for one more.
